Hello! I’m Cirilyn, a creative by heart. My interest for seamless repeat patterns started as a curious 6-8yr old, who was simply amazed with my aunt’s vintage wallpaper, asking how and why the flowers seem to repeat at the same orientation on the other side of the wall. Though I was always interested in drawing, I didn’t go for any art or design degree. I settled to drawing benzene rings and chemical equations, if that even counts to drawing at all! My journey into seamless repeat patterns began during a special chapter in my life – I was on maternity leave in 2016. I was looking for a creative outlet, something that I can do in between feeding my baby and changing his nappies. I came across the term “surface pattern”. I found some training videos on the internet and there was no turning back. I got myself a discounted iPad to teach myself digital art. Since then, I have been creating seamless repeats whenever I get a chance. As my work is purely digital, I draw anywhere. I tried to set up a creative space for my art, but sitting at a designated desk makes drawing feel like a chore and simply suffocates any creativity. Lately, my favourite and my most productive spot has been on a couch, waiting for my kids while they attend music lessons. My patterns are often inspired by florals, nature and the changing seasons. Whether it’s bold botanicals, holiday themes or simply everyday prints, I want to show that my patterns can help brighten someone’s day.
